Their story
The people behind it spent more than ten years building a small, well loved cafe on a San Francisco street corner before starting this roasting brand. Their story credits classroom training, hours at the roaster and steady tasting of coffees from many origins for shaping the brand. Good Neighbor, the flagship, is a medium roast balancing sweetness and spice. Fuzzy Sweater runs fuller and darker, and Mixtape rotates through light to medium single origins.
It buys from small producers worldwide, with a current push to purchase directly from small farms in the Guatemalan highlands, plus a few chosen importers. Its FAQ announced a planned move to bags that are fully compostable, valve and zipper included, after a year of searching; the bags in use then were 40 percent compostable. Subscriptions ship free and are processed on Tuesday mornings, and a tasting kit samples the current lineup.

Roast levels run light, medium and dark. House blends include Good Neighbor, Fuzzy Sweater, Secret Handshake and Mixtape. Single origins on the list when we checked: El Bonito, Ethiopia and Gesha.
