What the single origin plan sends
Our single origin coffee subscription sends a 12 oz bag of coffee from one farm or one region, roasted to order by a different independent Oregon roaster each box. It does not send blends. If you want a steady, rounded cup day after day, choose blend instead, or put a blend in a second bag and keep the first as single origin.
Oregon roasters who name the farm
A single origin is only as good as the roaster's buying. These are roasters we list that roast single origins and describe how they buy them on their own pages, checked 2026-09-27. A listing does not mean a roaster is part of the club or in any box.
- Portland Coffee Roasters bought its first direct trade coffee from the La Hilda Estate in Costa Rica and still roasts La Hilda every year.
- Nossa Familia roasts coffee from its founder's family farms in Brazil's Sul de Minas and Cerrado regions, and single origins from farms in Nicaragua and Guatemala.
- Heart skips light, medium and dark labels and gives each coffee its own profile, with single origins from Kenya, Ethiopia and Mexico.
- Coava names each single origin for its producer and rotates them by season, and runs an agronomy audit at each farm it buys from.
- Case Study lists the producer, region, variety and process for every lot.
- Caravan in Newberg buys to a written standard it calls S.E.T.: social impact, sustainable practice and traceability to a farm or cooperative.
- Backporch in Bend keeps its single origins at the lighter end and runs a Showcase Series of micro lots from farmers it has bought from for years.
- Sterling brought back El Borbollon, a washed Red Bourbon from the Alvarez family in El Salvador, as a single origin.
Why rotate single origins through Oregon roasters
Two roasters can buy from the same country and send you very different cups. A light Kenya from a Portland roaster and a medium Sumatra from the coast have little in common beyond the label. Moving through roasters box by box shows you the range in one year.
It also keeps the relationships going. Sisters Coffee has bought from the Villatoro family in Guatemala for 21 years. Backporch has worked with the Menendez family in El Salvador for more than 13. Those relationships are paid for by bags sold in Sisters, Bend and the rest of Oregon, which is why local roasters matter.

What is single origin coffee?
Coffee from one farm or one region, roasted without blending in coffees from elsewhere. It tastes of that place and that harvest.
Does single origin cost more?
No. Every bag is $16.99, whatever the style, and the first bag is free.
Can I choose the country?
No. You choose single origin and a roast level, and the coffee depends on that box's roaster. The packing slip tells you what is in the bag and what to taste for.
What roast level suits single origin?
Any of them works. Light is fruity and floral, medium leans to chocolate and caramel, and dark is roasty and good with milk. Choose mix it up to let each roaster decide.
Backporch in Bend, for one, keeps its single origins at the lighter end, while Sleepy Monk on the coast roasts single origins from medium to French.
