Good Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Troutdale, founded in 2014. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The group runs coffee bars, roasts its own coffee and says it loves hosting the city and its visitors. Its Mexico Grand Cru comes from the same group of 40 families for a second straight year. Brothers Sam and Nick Purvis opened Good Coffee in 2014 with a third partner who has since left. While the first Division Street cafe was being finished, Nick poured drinks from a sidewalk cart out front.
A second cafe on SE 12th Avenue followed within months. Both brothers had worked in coffee for years and competed as baristas at regional and national events before going out on their own. Sam Purvis told Imbibe the company would roast around 60,000 pounds that year at its Troutdale facility. It works closely with the importer Red Fox Coffee Merchants, started by Aleco Chigounis, to reach smaller growers.
What they roast
House blends include Spectrum Blend, KairosPDX Blend and Open School Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Tanzania Mandomashe, Mexico Ki-Saya, Ethiopia Nano Genji, Kenya Kiambu and Guatemala Finca Terrazas. Decaf: Colombian Decaf.
