Guilder Coffee Co. is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Portland, founded in 2017. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Guilder describes itself as fully woman owned. It roasts in Portland and runs three cafes, one of them inside Powell's City of Books. Producer photos on its site are taken by the team or by importing partners it knows, and everyone pictured agreed to be photographed. Mike and Caryn Nelson first roasted in Florida under the Junior's Roasted Coffee name. After moving to Portland they opened the first Guilder cafe, with its roaster, at the corner of NE 24th and Fremont in 2017, with Toby Roberts and Carrie Lind as co-owners.
Married coffee professionals Ryan Willbur and Laila Ghambari bought Guilder and Junior's in April 2024. Daily Coffee News reported that the pair took a full stake and that a Small Business Administration loan helped fund the deal. Before the purchase Willbur worked for Intelligentsia, Stumptown and La Marzocco USA and later ran sales and marketing for an equipment supplier. Ghambari led training and retail operations at Stumptown and has her own consulting firm.

House blends include The Guild Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Mexico, Cosautlan, Washed, Guatemala, Canoguitas, Washed and Ethiopia, Aricha, Washed. Decaf: Decaf, Colombia, Amigos Del Huila. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.
