Their story
The company runs a group of upscale coffee houses in the suburbs around Portland and roasts in micro batches for them at its own sites in Beaverton and Tigard. Its cafes serve whole leaf teas, pastries and sandwiches beside the coffee, and The Roastery by AvA in Tigard opens evenings as a coffee and cocktail venue. The bean list is short: a house AVA Blend, a decaf, an India Araku Valley blend and single origins from Ethiopia, Sumatra, Colombia and Brazil.
The Roastery by AvA in Tigard opens Wednesday through Saturday evenings and can be reserved for large parties and private events. A separate Bakery by AVA storefront on Main Street in Tigard keeps daytime hours on the same block as the Tigard cafe.
What they roast
House blends include AVA Blend and India Araku Valley Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Sumatra Mandheling, Colombia Santa Maria Huila and Brazil Cerrado.
