Black Rose Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Portland. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The roaster and owner signs as "Moose" and describes the company as an effort to bring approachable craft coffee to Portland. Bags are sold by the gram, mostly 500 g, with smaller 350 g bags too. The owner argues the usual 12 ounce bag is sold as if it were a pound. Every coffee on the menu can be ordered as a half caff version, which the shop calls Afternoon Delight. The roaster says its decaf has won medals.
What they roast
Roast levels run light, light medium, medium, dark medium and French roast. House blends include Black Rose Blend, Morning Sunshine Espresso Blend, New Dawn Espresso Blend and La Medialuna half caff. Single origins on the list when we checked: Yunnan Red Honey, Ecuador, Colombia Samaria Estate and Nayarit Reserva. Espresso: Morning Sunshine Espresso Blend.
