Coffee Plant Roaster is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Eugene, founded in 2013. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Coffee Plant Roaster opened in summer 2013 to serve Eugene freshly roasted coffee from around the world. A full kitchen was added in July 2017. It cooks seasonal dishes from local ingredients and makes breads, pastries and condiments in house. Each month the roastery brings in new green coffees from a different set of regions for its monthly selection.
Roasting happens on a 15 kilo Giesen inside the cafe, and after each batch the beans are air dried and left to rest overnight before use. The roaster says it buys only high scoring lots from small organic farms, and wholesale orders are roasted the day before they are delivered. The kitchen leans on fermenting and curing, and its menu changes with the seasons along with a daily specials board.
Current coffees include a Butte Blend, a CPR French Roast, a Sumatra Ketiara and a decaf Sumatra, and web orders ship by Priority Mail on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Roast levels run CPR French Roast. House blends include Willamette Valley Blend and Butte Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Nicaragua Limoncillo, Nicaragua Mama Mina, Colombia Ixtapa Excelso EP and Sumatra Ketiara. Decaf: Decaf Sumatra. The cafe is open every day from 7am to 5pm, with the kitchen closing at 3pm.

Why buying from Coffee Plant Roaster matters here
Its house blend is named for the Willamette Valley, where the cafe sits on Eugene's west side. Visitors can order an espresso and watch the roasting in the West 11th Avenue shop, which also pours teas, kombucha and cold-pressed organic juices.
