Cup Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Portland. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
This small Portland roaster buys from women-led and BIPOC-owned farms. It notes women do much of the world's coffee farm labor but own a minority of farms. Roasting happens once a week on Mondays, and orders go out on Tuesdays. Co-founders Ashton and Liz brewed live on KOIN 6's AM Extra in June 2025, a segment that covered the farm-direct buying and a pledge of 1 percent of revenue to reef restoration through Coral Gardeners.
Producers it names include La Morena, a women-led group in Cubulco, Guatemala, smallholders in Guji, Ethiopia, and Jhoan Vergara's family at Finca Las Flores in Colombia, who use anaerobic fermentation. The decaf is made with the sugarcane EA process, and subscribers to the rotating Roaster's Choice plan save 15 percent on each shipment.

Why buying from Cup Coffee Roasters matters here
Golden Hour Coffee Co. on Hawthorne pours Cup as its exclusive roaster, a partnership Daily Coffee News reported in August 2025. Bags are also sold at Balong Panaderia on SE 82nd. The roaster started with pop-ups, including a November 2025 event with Balong and Salvi that ran a food drive for Urban Gleaners, and in 2026 it added a licensed mobile espresso cart for events. Portland customers get free local delivery, and orders placed by Sunday night make that Monday's roast.
