Mudd Works Roastery is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Portland. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Everything is roasted on a vintage Sasa Samiac roaster at the NE Glisan location. The note on the site is signed by Mark and crew. The cafe shares its space with Replicant Beer & Wine PDX and City Noise Records. Mark and his crew call their roasting style a blend of new and old school. They say experience taught them to stay curious and to roast the way they love.
In May 2025 the cafe moved half a block into Replicant, a bar and bottle shop, which gave it more room and seating, Bridgetown Bites reported. The roastery was expected to stay put.
What they roast
Roast levels run light, medium, medium dark and dark. House blends include Heavy Number, Mudd House, Happy Camper and French Roast. Single origins on the list when we checked: Sumatra Mandheling, Colombia El Gato, Mexico Organic Oaxaca and Ethiopia Guji Natural Bishan Naga. Espresso: Heavy Number. Decaf: Decaf Heavy Number (Swiss Water, organic). Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

The Glisan cafe is open 7am to 3pm every day and has a patio, with room for more than 60 people.

Heavy Number, the house blend, is a medium roast sold for espresso, drip and cold brew, with a Swiss Water decaf version. Mudd House combines Sumatra with French Roast for a darker, smoky cup. Bags ship anywhere in the country by USPS Priority for a flat $5. Orders are processed within a day, Monday through Saturday.
