Radiant Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Portland, founded in 2016. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Radiant traces its start to Eugene in 2016, when home roasting for family and friends grew into sales at farmers markets and through retail partners. Early batches came off a one-pound roaster. The company now roasts in North Portland and packs bags from 12 ounces to 5 pounds for shops and shipping. In October 2020 the company took over Glass House Coffee, a Whiteaker neighborhood cafe that had opened in 2015.
The company has widened its focus from coffee to the whole morning meal. It now runs a small bakery out of the Eugene cafe and offers a short breakfast menu built on organic and local ingredients.
What they roast
Roast levels run Light, Medium and Dark. House blends include Radiant Balanced Blend, Radiant Breakfast Blend and Radiant Midnight Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Colombia Embrujo Mr. Hat, Mexico Veracruz La Laja, Colombia Huila Burbujas, Guatemala Cafe Feminino, Colombia Finca La Suiza Cafe de Mujer and Brazil Minas Gerais Luzia. Radiant pours and sells coffee at Portland farmers markets including Hollywood, Montavilla, Hillsdale, Woodstock and St. Johns, plus the Lane County market in Eugene. Radiant kept the Glass House name after the handover to honor the neighborhood regulars and staff who had shaped the cafe. It describes the shop as a place meant to be safe and equitable for everyone who uses it.
