Sinister Coffee and Creamery is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Portland, founded in 2018. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Kelly and Michelle Kaliher started in 2018 as a mobile business, turning up at events such as the Oregon Ghost Conference and the farmers market at PSU. Michelle's interest in the paranormal shaped the coffee side, while Kelly's culinary background led the ice cream line. The owners describe the company as women-owned and LGBTQ+ owned. The owners roast the coffee themselves, buying organic single-origin green beans from women farmers in Peru, Guatemala and Colombia.
In summer 2019 the Kalihers joined other ghost hunting groups to form the Pacific Northwest Paranormal Collaborative. Michelle says she has had paranormal experiences since childhood, and the couple moved into a house they call haunted in 2008.

Why buying from Sinister Coffee and Creamery matters here
The owners join investigations of Portland spots said to be haunted and write about them on the shop's ghost blog. The ice cream begins with a sweet cream base made from Oregon dairy milk and cream. Affogatos, cold brew and desserts share the menu, and local artists and makers show work in the downtown shop.
