Their story

The company traces itself to 1972 in Ashland, where Allan began roasting with a frying pan and green coffee after first tasting coffee in Europe. Its original name was Allann Bros Coffee. The family that owns it describes it as Oregon's oldest family-owned roaster and says it has stayed independent for more than 50 years. Its locations page names Albany as the place where new products are developed first, and the first shop opened in Ashland in 1972.

Maestro's Blend, a dark mix of beans from Nicaragua, Mexico and Sumatra, is the house espresso, and a decaf version of it is sold for people avoiding caffeine. The single origin list includes a direct trade Caturra from Finca Las Camelias in Nicaragua's Jinotega region, a Fairtrade Colombian from Cauca and a Rainforest Alliance lot from Chiapas. Loose leaf tea is sold alongside the coffee. One example is Four Horsemen, a breakfast tea that combines Assam, Darjeeling, Yunnan and Keemun black teas.
