Coffee in Albany

We list three roasters in Albany, and all three are family businesses. Allan's Coffee & Tea is the old one, tracing itself to 1972, and it now develops new products in Albany first. Weekend Coffee Roasters began as a side project on weekends. Whisperwood Roasters has no storefront at all and names every coffee after something out of folklore.

Roasters in and near Albany

  • Allan's Coffee & Tea: started as Allann Bros Coffee and sells loose leaf tea next to its coffee. Its house espresso is Maestro's Blend, a dark mix of Nicaragua, Mexico and Sumatra.
  • Weekend Coffee Roasters: roasts to order from light to dark, sorts its three signature blends by roast level, and sells unroasted green coffee to people who roast at home.
  • Whisperwood Roasters: a small family roaster that sells online and at events. Faerie Circle is an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe light roast, and Witching Hour is a smoky Sumatra.

Albany's coffee story

Allan's story starts in Ashland in 1972. Allan began roasting green coffee in a frying pan after first tasting coffee in Europe, and the first shop opened in Ashland that year. The family that owns the company calls it Oregon's oldest family-owned roaster. Its Albany cafe near Interstate 5 drew road travelers and locals alike, but it is posted as closed until further notice, so for now the coffee is sold through the online shop.

Weekend Coffee Roasters is run by Albany locals who started roasting on their days off and grew it into a small-batch roastery. They list school fundraisers and a small business partner program among the ways they give back, and they will build a custom blend for a business that wants to pour its coffee.

Whisperwood recently added a dark roast and a decaf to its short list of whole bean coffees. The owners tell followers to watch for the next show they will attend, and hint that a Renaissance faire may be on it.

How we chose these roasters

Every roaster here roasts in Oregon and was operating when we read its own site, on the date its card shows (the list itself was last checked 2026-09-27). Facts come from each roaster's own pages, written in our words; we take nothing from reviews and show no ratings. No roaster pays to be listed, and a listing does not mean the roaster is part of the club. Run a roaster here and something is off? Email coffee@multnomahcoffeeclub.com and we correct or remove the page.
