Browne House Coffee Co. is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Heppner. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
A family-owned roasting company in Heppner, it aims to supply fresh local coffee to Eastern Oregon and the wider Northwest. Buyers can set up monthly subscriptions of one to five one-pound bags, whole bean or ground. Co-owner Laura first picked coffee cherries on a Nicaraguan volcano in 2002 and 2003 and learned to roast over the kitchen fire of the family she lived with there.
She later trained as a barista at a Seattle roaster, pulled espresso at a Bend coffee shop and did weekend roasting for a local roaster before starting her own company. Her husband Travis now does the roasting on a bright green Diedrich machine that sits in the roasting room.
What they roast
House blends include Arbuckle Blend, Stony Brew Blend, Black Mountain French Roast and Dark Dove. Single origins on the list when we checked: Mexican Sicobi. Decaf: Matlock Decaf Blend. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

The Heppner shop opens Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30 to 5:30, or by appointment.

Its tagline places the roastery in the foothills of the Blue Mountains in northeastern Oregon. The roastery is on Heppner's historic Main Street, a town of wheat fields and hills where many 1800s buildings were lost in the flood of 1903. Its building, once called the pink building, previously housed the local electric co-op's offices, a video store and a gym before it was repainted dark brown.
Every bag bought from a Heppner roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Oregon, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
