Columbia River Coffee Roaster is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Astoria, founded in 1992. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Founder Tim Hurd came back to the area where he grew up and started roasting in 1992 on a Royal No. 5 he found in an antique shop in Hebo. About 15 years later the company moved into a restored historic building in Astoria's Uniontown district. Roasting now runs on Diedrich CR45 and IR7 machines. A coffee house shared the building for 11 years before closing in 2020, and the roaster has since used the space for a coffee lab and training area.
What they roast
Roast levels run Light and Dark. House blends include Breakwater. Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala Punta Del Cerro (Villatoro family, Huehuetenango) and Primos Unidos. Decaf: Frodo's Cup Decaf (seasonal). Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

The roastery's retail counter sells fresh bags, gear and brewed samples six days a week.
