Elk City Coffee Company is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Toledo. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The company has roots in Elk City and roasts in the foothills of the Oregon Coast using an off-the-grid setup. Its green coffee comes from seven countries, among them Brazil, Peru and Papua New Guinea. The site says about 90 percent is Fair Trade Organic and half comes from farms that fund education and training for growers. In July 2023 the roaster spent more than a week in Peru as a guest of Cafe Femenino, a group that backs women coffee farmers, picking cherries and visiting farms in the Andes and Amazon valleys.

Single origins on the list when we checked: Papua New Guinea (dark), Colombia Cafe Femenino (medium) and Brazil Cerrado Tropical Paradise. Decaf: Swiss Water decaf. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.
Where to drink it
There is no cafe. On Thursdays the company pours coffee and sells bags at the Toledo waterfront market.

Why buying from Elk City Coffee Company matters here
Its bags sell online and through shops along the Oregon Coast, according to the site description. Every Thursday from 10am to 3pm the company sets up at the Toledo waterfront market with brewed coffee and discounted bags. Wholesale buyers include coffee shops, restaurants and retailers, with bags from 12 ounces to 5 pounds, and local hotels can order 1.5 ounce packs for guest rooms. The dark Papua New Guinea coffee is grown by the Highland Organic Agriculture Cooperative in the Okapa area of the Eastern Highlands.
Every bag bought from a Toledo roaster pays roasting and cafe wages in Oregon, and the coffee reaches you days after roasting instead of months. That is the reason the club exists. Why local roasters matter.
