Kissing Rock Coffee is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Gold Beach. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
This family-owned company in Gold Beach roasts in small batches on a fluid bed of hot air instead of a drum. Its master roaster is Andrew Houghtaling. The owners say they are farmers themselves and buy fair-trade, organically grown beans. The company says it took four medals at the 2026 Golden Bean World Series, two of them gold, and finished second for the overall world roasting title.
Dancing Goat, which it says took gold at Golden Bean in 2025, balances red fruit and nutty notes and heads a range that also includes Merrimaker, Dark Horse and Mountain of Gold. Its Colombia grape co-ferment, made by Forest Coffee at El Vergel Estate, is sold roasted and also as unroasted green beans for home roasters. The blonde roast is a Grade 1 Guji from Ethiopia, and the espresso is the house Kissing Rock Blend with nutty, dark fruit notes.

Roast levels run blonde, medium and dark. House blends include Kissing Rock Blend, South Coast Roast, Dancing Goat, Gold Beach Blend (dark) and Wild Child.
