Lone Pine Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Bend, founded in 2009. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Lone Pine opened in 2009 in Tin Pan Alley in downtown Bend. The company says it grew out of a love of cafes as places for connection, from board games and first dates to old friends catching up. It was founded around quality coffee and ethical sourcing. The team picks green coffees for flavor, balance and sustainable farming, then tunes each roast profile to bring out that coffee's character. Its roasting aims for coffee that is easy to brew well at home while still showing full flavor, for home brewers and professional baristas alike.
The cafes take the same care with everything else in the cup and on the plate: house-made almond and cashew milk, syrups made from local and organic ingredients, and no seed oils. They also pour a small list of natural wines, beers and ciders during evening aperitif hours. Lone Pine now runs two cafes in Bend, a downtown shop on NW Harriman St and an Eastside cafe on NE Cushing Dr, and hosts community events such as music nights.
What they roast
Roast levels run espresso roast and dark. House blends include Heartwood Blend (espresso roast) and Tin Pan Alley Blend (dark roast). Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala Arlam Aguirre, Ethiopia Mulish, Kenya Chorongi AA and Mexico Yosotatu. Heartwood Blend is sold as an espresso roast. Where to drink it
Two Bend cafes open every day. The downtown cafe also runs evening aperitif hours on Friday and Saturday.
