Mellelo Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Medford, founded in 1992. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The company began in 1992 and has roasted, served coffee and helped others start coffee businesses since then. Along with its cafes, it trains baristas and sells and services espresso machines for wholesale partners. Its mission statement treats coffee as a culinary art and casts the company as an educator for its customers.
Holly Street is the original signature espresso blend, a dark chocolate and red wine style shot with a lasting crema. It also comes in an organic version. The organic range covers single origins from Ethiopia, Guatemala and Honduras plus Christopher's Blend, a French roast and a cold brew coffee. Staff trainers and brew technicians teach barista skills from machine calibration to latte art, and Zack Barrer handles espresso machine sales, repair and refurbishing.

Roast levels run medium and dark. House blends include Four Seasons, Dancing Elephants, Blue Mountain, Cafe di Giorgio and Christopher's Blend Organic. Why buying from Mellelo Coffee Roasters matters here
Two of its cafes operate inside Asante medical buildings in Medford, and one inside the hospital in Grants Pass. For each bag of its DOGS for Better LIVES Espresso, the roaster gives $3 to that nonprofit, which trains assistance dogs at a campus in Central Point. Wholesale accounts, from hospital cafeterias to small offices, can get syrups, smoothie mixes and paper goods along with coffee, and free equipment with qualifying coffee purchases. One cafe sits behind Hobby Lobby on Lear Way with a drive-thru, and another is in the Twin Creeks neighborhood of Central Point with a patio.
