River Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Florence. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
The shop occupies a former garage and outboard motor repair building in Old Town Florence, according to press coverage it reposts. It sells its own coffee by the 12 ounce bag online, from house blends to straight origins. Bill's Auto, the house blend of Colombian and Costa Rican beans, is billed as a Florence favorite, and Bridge Espresso is called the shop's signature coffee.
Its Nicaraguan comes from the Finca Catalina farm in the highlands, which the roaster says pays workers above average wages. The decaf espresso roast is a Komodo style mix of Sumatra, Peru and Ethiopia, and a dark roasted Mexico is the other decaf. House drinks include the Monkey Mocha with banana and coconut, the Blackjack with four espresso shots and steamed half and half, and a Shot in the Dark.

House blends include Bay Street Blend, Old Town Blend, North Fork Blend, Siuslaw River Blend, South Jetty Blend and Bill's Auto. Why buying from River Roasters matters here
Several blends take names from nearby spots, including the Siuslaw River, the North Fork and the South Jetty. Bay Street Blend, a mix of Indonesian and Central American coffees, is named for the Old Town street the shop sits on. The press piece it reposts describes a church pew for seating, a gas stove, a tin roof and a back deck looking out on the river and the bridge. The shop has backed local youth sports, including a 2017 season sponsoring a soccer team called White Lightning.
