Salem Coffee Roaster is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Salem. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
A family-run Salem business, it comes from the team behind Bon Mua and draws on family coffee traditions it says go back more than 40 years. Beans come from small family farms in places including Hawaii's Big Island, Africa, Asia and South America. The company holds organic and Fair Trade certification and says it avoids synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and genetically modified crops.
The About page of Bon Mua, the sister brand, recalls a visit about twenty years ago by John Marberry, a retired firefighter, to Lan's childhood home in Hoa An village in Daklak, Vietnam. The family says each cup bought helps children and families in coffee farming communities, and it credits travel to growing regions on four continents for shaping the business.

Roast levels run Light medium, Medium and Dark. House blends include Sunnyslope (medium), Morningside (dark) and Waterfront (light medium). Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.

Visitors who stop at the roasting facility for a bag get a cup of coffee on the house.
