Their story

The shop opened in 1993 as a bakery and lunch spot, added breakfast four years later, and bought a small 5 lb roaster three years after that. All food is made from scratch on site, and the roaster will do custom 5 lb batches from the beans in stock. The drink menu has house creations such as the Early Riser, espresso with steamed milk, almond syrup and orange zest, and Mary's Peak, a double shot poured over vanilla bean ice cream.

Brewed coffee is either the featured single origin or the house blend, and customers can pay extra for a pour over of any bean in stock. Its chai is made in the kitchen with local honey and a pinch of cayenne.

The cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday, 7:30am to 2:30pm.
