Silver Falls Coffee Co. is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Silverton, founded in 2009. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.
Their story
Eric and Tamara Dahl started the company in 2009 with their three children. Head roaster Mark Kaser, Eric's cousin, and manager Jordan Cox later joined as partners. The family handles its own roasting, bagging and distribution. Mark had also worked with Eric on his Christmas tree farm. Bags reach Roth's, Market of Choice, New Seasons and Safeway stores across the Willamette Valley and beyond.
Manager Jordan Cox has known the Dahls all her life and went through school with their oldest daughter. Relatives of both Cox and Kaser have also worked at the roastery. Silver Falls bought Rosie's Mountain Coffee House in Mill City in January 2020. Rosie's had been family run for more than 20 years, and most of its staff stayed on after the sale.
What they roast
House blends include Breakfast Blend, Silver Falls Espresso Blend, Italian Roast and French Roast. Single origins on the list when we checked: Sumatra, Sumatra Dark, Colombia Dark, Colombian Supremo and Sumatra Fair Trade Organic. Espresso: Silver Falls Espresso Blend. Cafes inside Silver Falls State Park, including South Falls Cafe, pour its coffee. Rosie's sits on Highway 22 in the Santiam Canyon and is known for homemade scones, with espresso, smoothies, deli salads and made to order sandwiches for travelers heading to Central Oregon. Closer to home, the coffee is poured at the Silverton Hospital espresso stand and the Frothy Fox cart at Silverton High School, and it is stocked at eight Roth's Fresh Market stores.
