Their story
A family runs this small-batch roastery in Coos Bay and roasts, blends and bags its coffee by hand. The roaster points to more than 30 years of experience and describes its work as an expression of its Christian faith. Whiskey Run, which the company calls a best seller, layers four coffees roasted from light to dark: two Central Americans, a South American and an Indonesian, built for espresso but also brewed as drip.
Falcon Fuel pairs a light roasted Central American with a medium Indonesian, and the roaster keeps it light on purpose to hold on to caffeine. Old Chicago is its Italian roast, a dark and oily blend of Central and South American beans, while Midnight Roast is billed as the darkest coffee on the menu. A long list of flavored coffees sits beside the blends, including Snickerdoodle, Creme Brulee, Coconut Cream, Oregon Blackberry and Jamaican Me Crazy.
Orders go out Monday through Saturday, often the same or next day, and subscribers save 5 or 8 percent depending on how often bags arrive.

Roast levels run Old Chicago (Italian roast). House blends include Bean Forge Blend, Sasquatch Blend, Lighthouse Blend, Old Chicago, Breakfast Blend, Saturday Special, Falcon Fuel, Mocha Java and Whiskey Run (espresso). Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Java Estate, Mexico Chiapas Turquesa, Colombian Supremo and Sumatra. Whiskey Run. Decaf: Mama's Decaf.
