The Governor's Cup Coffee Roasters is one of the beloved local roasters we follow in Oregon: an independent roaster based in Salem, founded in 1991. Here is what their own pages and public sources say about them, in our words.

Their story

Opened in 1991, the Gov Cup calls itself Salem's longest-running coffee house and small-batch roaster. Besides coffee and breakfast sandwiches, the Court Street shop hosts live music and pours drinks from a full bar. Beans are sold online and shipped, and the company also runs a wholesale coffee service.

Roasting is done daily in small batches on a Probat P12. The wholesale page names Shahrom as the current roaster and says the company buys through close ties with its green coffee traders. After more than 30 years in business, the Gov Cup describes roasting as partly science and partly the roaster's own feel for when a batch is ready.

What they roast

House blends include Electric Eye Blend and Bootleg Blend. Single origins on the list when we checked: Guatemala Huehuetenango, Colombia Huila, Honduras Honey Finca Liquidambar, Sumatra Jambi Province and Mexico Washed Oaxaca. Decaf: Swiss Water Process decaf. Offerings change with the seasons, so this is what their own pages listed on 2026-09-28.
