Coffee in Hood River
We list four roasters around Hood River: three in town and one in Parkdale. The mountain and the river show up on their menus: Moby sells a Mt Hood Morning and a Cooper Spur Roast, and Hood River Coffee Roasters has blends named for the Columbia River and Mt. Adams. STOKED takes its blend names from skiing and surfing slang. Ground, downtown, has roasted its own beans since 2009.

Hood River
- Ground Coffee: bakery, cafe, restaurant and roastery in one space on Oak St, open every day. It also roasts for its sister shop, Doppio.
- STOKED Roasters: a family-run roastery and coffeehouse on Portway Avenue, opened in 2019. Every bean it roasts is certified organic.
- Hood River Coffee Roasters: a family-owned roaster that roasts to order and adjusts its computer roast profiles for the weather and air pressure.
Parkdale
- Moby Coffee Roasters: runs a coffee bar in Parkdale and an espresso stand in Hood River, and favors coffee from shade grown, mixed crop farms.
Hood River's coffee story
Ground came to roasting by way of an airline bankruptcy. Carin Agren, a flight attendant, bought the existing shop in 2008 from owners who wanted out of coffee, and learned the trade as she went. She started roasting in January 2009 on a 2 pound machine. A few years later other shops asked to buy her beans, and in 2015 a 10 pound Ashe roaster went in.
STOKED is a family business too. Siblings Emily and Katelyn, both from the Gorge, opened it with Cameron in 2019, and they roast on site on a 25 pound San Franciscan they call Pearl.
Hood River Coffee Roasters sells about a dozen single origins, several in both lighter and dark versions, and many of its coffees carry Oregon Tilth organic certification. Up the valley, Moby's Cooper Spur Roast stocks the guest rooms at Cooper Spur Resort.
The club shares its name with Multnomah Falls, and Hood River Coffee Roasters sells a Multnomah Falls Blend. The two are not connected.
